A request may be made by any person or business that is a member of the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce (PHCC) in good standing. |
The request must be made in writing addressed to the PHCC Board of Directors and contain the following:
Description of the issue on which the requestor wishes the PHCC to advocate. |
The reasons why the PHCC should take such a position. This should address how and why the issue affects:
- The Pleasant Hill business community
- Chamber of Commerce members
- Pleasant Hill residents
- Pleasant Hill business customers
Specifically why the PHCC should advocate for or against the issue.
Data and supporting documentation that the PHCC needs to effectively analyze the advocacy request.
To whom (which party) the requestor would like the PHCC to advocate (e.g., City Council, Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors, etc.)
The PHCC will, through the VP for Government Affairs, refer the request to the PHCC Government Affairs Committee (GAC) for review and analysis within seven days. The GAC will hold a study session, as soon as possible but no later than 30 days, to afford the requestor and others the opportunity to present pertinent information and allow for GAC members to pose questions. |
Based on its review and analysis, the GAC, under the direction of the VP of Government Affairs, drafts a recommendation (within 7 days) for submission to the PHCC Board of Directors on the advocacy position to be adopted by the PHCC. |
The PHCC Board of Directors votes on the request, no later than their next regularly scheduled meeting, and may adopt, modify or reject the recommendation of the GAC. If the Board rejects the GAC recommendation, the Board may instead adopt an alternative advocacy position or no position at all, as approved by the majority of the PHCC Board of Directors. |
The PHCC VP for Governmental Affairs notifies the requestor in writing of the PHCC Board of Directors' decision within three days of the PHCC Board of Directors' vote. |
