For this week’s #MemberMonday, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Derek Knapp and his sister Laurie Limrite who run the family business, #Agent2000, Commercial and Personal Insurance Brokers. Their dad started the business back in 1975 with another partner under a different name. In 1996, the name changed to Agent 2000 and became solely owned by the Knapp Family. Derek and his sister have been a part of the business for as long as they can remember. Insurance is in the family blood. Agent 2000 is located at 3585 Clayton Road in Concord. You can visit their website at www.insuranceagent2000.com or call them at 925-429-8811. Their tag line is “We are the People Who Listen” which is so important when you are trusting people with your assets and financial well-being.
Their mission is “We are proud to provide insurance and financial solutions to individuals and businesses in our area. We are committed to building a solid relationship with customers in Concord, Clayton, Pleasant Hill, Pittsburg, Antioch, Brentwood, Oakley, Knightsen and Discovery Bay, CA through practical solutions and excellent service. Our dedicated staff of insurance professionals is here to assist you in securing an insurance policy to protect you and your loved ones for years to come. With a vast knowledge of our many carriers, we are equipped to shop for the best policy to suit your needs. Our job is to help you navigate through the sea of policy options and clarify any questions or concerns you may have along the way”
While sitting down with Derek and his sister Laurie we discovered a deep connection in finding out that she knew my father and handled his company’s insurance policies and some personal lines as well for many years. In fact, she honed her contract review skills by assisting his company. As the anniversary of my father’s passing was last week, it was touching to know that she knew my father. He was the type that researched everything before he did it; so if he trusted Agent 2000 to handle both personal and business insurance they surely have my vote.
Derek and his wife Lori have four daughters. Derek grew up in #PleasantHill and attended all the local public schools. Derek is an active member of the #PleasantHillChamber, acting as an ambassador without the title (he has a conflict with the meetings). He has had significant growth in his company since he joined the #Chamber back in 2015. Not only has he gained clients through the Chamber but many friendships have been developed along the way. His power partners are commercial realtors, CPAs, bookkeepers and business consultants. His organizational skills have significantly improved over the years as he has had to learn how to juggle many tasks simultaneously.
If he could go anywhere, he says he would go to the #Daytona500. He loves to travel and recently visited #NewYorkCity. He has a trip planned this summer to the #GrandTetons and #YellowStoneNationalPark. When asked about concerts, and one that stands out the most, he chuckled a bit when he recalled going to see The Judds many years ago and recalled the opening band was this country singer who was just beginning his career, Garth Brooks. He’s not opening for bands anymore! Derek’s favorite food is #BBQ. He doesn’t read books much but does listen to his #Audible and the last one he really enjoyed was Five Presidents: My Extraordinary Journey with Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford, by Clint Hill. A fascinating listen indeed. Thanks for sitting down with me Derek and Laurie, it was fun getting to know you, your connection with my father and generally ‘talking shop” about the insurance industry.
