STAT MED Urgent Care - June 12, 2018

For this week's #TinaTuesday I had the privilege of speaking with Rob O'Reilly, COO at Stat Med Urgent Care.  I was actually a patient at Stat Med last week due to a knee injury, so I thought this would be a great Chamber member to highlight for this week's #TinaTuesday.

Stat Med was started by Dr. Armando Samaniego, MD, MBA in December of 2013 with it's first location in Lafayette in a shared office with a Radiologist (so convenient, right?).  Dr. "Sam" wanted a place where people could get quality care quickly and efficiently.  In June of 2014, Daniel Finnane (President) and Robert O'Reilly (Chief Operating Officer) joined the Stat Med team.  They soon recognized that they wanted more visible and easily accessible locations, so they opened a second location in Pleasant Hill in 2015, and then in December of 2017 their third location in Livermore. STAT MED Urgent Care provides immediate access to a team of doctors who have practiced in hospital emergency rooms and in local primary care practices . That means they can handle everything from more severe injuries and illnesses to routine medical exams.  With up-to-date facilities, private rooms, and unrushed attention from genuinely caring professionals, STAT MED Urgent Care helps make you feel better from the moment you walk in the door. And if you need an EKG, lab or x-ray, there’s no need to go to another floor or health provider. Comprehensive services are on-site to expedite your care.  STAT MED Urgent Care is committed to providing top-quality immediate care alongside an outstanding patient experience — for every single person, every single day (and that was absolutely my experience).  The idea for STAT MED evolved from the years of practice their doctors had in California's leading Emergency Rooms. As Emergency Medicine specialists, they understood the need for exemplary care for all patients with a multitude of medical circumstances. A trip to the ER could be traumatic in and of itself, not to mention EXPENSIVE . They wanted an ER-level of care without the discomfort, chaos, and long waits of an emergency trip to the hospital (goal accomplished!!).  Did you know studies show that 70% of all ER visits are not for life-and-death emergencies and would be better treated in an urgent care facility — as long as that facility is staffed with experienced emergency doctors.

Here are a few of the services STAT MED provides:

  • Urgent Care
  • Preventative Care
  • Occupational Health/Workers Comp
  • X-Rays and Labs (I was the recipient of an x-ray last week)
  • They even have the "STAT MOBILE" (get it? BAT, STAT), which can visit businesses with 20 or more employees for onsite flu clinics.

In January of this year they added a new program called Concussion Care.  They use an EEG machine (btw, the only one in the East Bay), to detect if there is a brain bleed after trauma to the head.  This machine is as accurate as a CT scan without the dizzying amount of radiation that you get from a CT scan.  This program is so very timely due to the amount of traumatic blows to the head that are occurring in sports now days. With 1000’s of head injury experiences, all STAT MED physicians know what is required for safe and effective recovery. That is why STAT MED offers the full spectrum of concussion services: evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, final assessment and, when needed, authorization to return to play, school or work.

STAT MED Urgent Care is contracted with all major commercial insurance companies, Medicare as well as CCHP (which is a managed MediCal program).  Are you an HMO Member? STAT MED offers affordable flat urgent care visit rates.  Don't have Insurance?  They offer significant discounts for cash paying patients, and they can work out a payment plan if needed.  They accept cash, checks, American Express, Visa, and MasterCard.

I hope you don't have to visit STAT MED, but the peace of mind knowing that we have such an amazing facility in our communities, is priceless.  Thank you Rob for taking the time to sit down with me and explain all of the wonderful things about STAT MED.  I for one am grateful STAT MED is here, especially after my visit last week. For more information on STAT MED or to check in and save a place in line (yep, you can do that too) visit www.statmed.com.
