Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa County

For today’s #MemberMonday I had the pleasure of sitting down with Patience Ofodu, Business Services Manager for Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa County www.wdbccc.com. #WDBCCC is a federally funded program through the #County of #ContraCosta. They work in partnership with the #SBDC (Small Business Development Center) www.contracostasbdc.org. The Contra Costa SBDC delivers localized programming and offers personalized advice, in collaboration with community partners, to qualified individuals to promote economic impact and human capital development. Together, they support the small business owners in our community. The Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa County brings together leaders from business, economic development, education, labor, community-based organizations, and public agencies to align a variety of resources and organizations to enhance the competitiveness of the local workforce and support economic vitality in our region. They offer support for businesses whether it’s for recruitment of human capital or outsourcing to other government agencies for needed services. 

When I arrived to meet with Patience,  I was impressed by the vast resources available to our community. There were job seeker boards, calendars of classes posted, computer workstations, classrooms and so many people there taking advantage of all the educational services available through #EastBayWorks job center. www.eastbayworks.com is another strong partnership that #WDBCCC works with. If you happen to know anyone who is a small business owner in need of support, referrals or resources, this is the place to start. If you know any job seekers who are looking to update or enhance their skill set this is an amazing job center with the resources to do just that. 

Patience has been working for #WDBCCC for seven years. She loves her work and wishes she knew of all the support available when she was a #smallbusiness owner many years ago. It brings her joy to empower people by giving them access to information, education and resources. She feels a sense of service helping others get back into the workforce. 

Patience grew up in Nigeria and if she could go anywhere, she would go home for a visit with family and friends. She is one of three siblings and has three daughters herself. She has an extensive background and holds a Master’s Degree in #PublicAdministration. She brings a wide range of experience from both the large corporate world and the small business owner which makes her a well-rounded and valuable asset to #WDBCCC.
